This fall, Foothills Academy together with host Dave Kelly will set aside one night to make a big difference in our city with the "LOL" – Kids Comedy Night ©(laugh out loud) event. We are very proud to present the talent and creativity of our own local youth who shine with amazing proficiency and energized animation. On November 2, 2009, three of our best local budding comedians will join with world renowned comedian, Mr. Bill Cosby, at the Jubilee Auditorium to amuse and entertain the crowd in order to benefit a very worthwhile cause. Three finalists will be selected to open the nights gut busting event with one of the funniest men alive and hopefully raise the roof with laughter.
Preparation for LOL began in June with radio and newspaper announcements directed at the young people of Calgary to use part of their summer holiday in creating and practicing a comedy routine. While the young comedians are preparing for this amazing opportunity, all Calgarians will be treated to funny and informative on-air clips hosted by Dave Kelly and friends. During September and October, Calgarians will potentially enjoy the gift of laughter as our young comedians spread their wings and entertain on radio, television and the Foothills Academy website.
Foothills Academy is all about celebrating the achievements of youth. “We could not be more excited about being associated with this production,” indicates Brenda Martin of Foothills Academy. What an amazing opportunity for an organization to support the gift of learning and in return receive the best gift of all – laughter.
For over 30 years, Foothills Academy has specialized in assisting youth and families with learning disabilities achieve success. “We are part of one of the most celebrated centers on the continent, but not because we accept only the best and brightest students. We take frustrated and sometimes depressed children with learning disabilities and teach them how to succeed," says Martin. "Where there is help, there is hope."
